Greetings from Kelowna

Yesterday I ran the BMO Kelowna Marathon. It was a beautiful day and my time was 3:17.41(3 hours 17 minutes and 41 seconds).

If a Marathon is 42 kilometres, what was my average pace per kilometre?

A marathon is also 26.2 miles. What was my average pace per mile?

A cross country loop is approximately 1.2 kilometres. How many loops make up a marathon?

What pace would I hold for each of those x-country loops?

I think your overall minutes is 197 min and 41 seconds. So 197.41 divided by 42 is 4.700 so it's 1km/4.7 minutes. For miles is 197.41 divided by 26.2 is 7.534/m. A marathon would make up 35 x-country loops because 42 divided by 26.2 is 35. The x country pace would be 5.619m/km.

okay so i took your time and simplified it down into minutes and got 198 minutes. so i divided 198 minutes to 42 km and got 4.7 minutes a kilometer . and for miles i divided 198 minutes to 26.2 miles and got 7.5 miles a mile.and it takes 35 x country loops.

I think your overall minutes are 196 and 30 seconds. So I made that into a number which came with a result of 196.30 and divided it by 42 and came with a result of 4.700(rounded) so it's 1km/4.7 minutes just like Kerrnels. Although, I could have just not rounded the result by that would in a result of a very complicated number. For your miles 196.30 divided by 26.2 and came with a result of 7.492/m. A marathon would make 35 loops (X-Country) beacuse 42 divided 26.2 comes with a result of 35.

Your total minutes is 197 minutes and 41 seconds. 197.41 divided by 42 is 4.7000 so it's 1km/4.7 min. Miles is 197.41 divided by 26.2 is 7.534/m. It would take 35 cross country loops because 42 divided by 26.2 is 35. Your pace should be 5.619m/km

1.I converted your time to minutes. I rounded 41 seconds to 1 minute. Then I multiplied 3 hours by 60 to get 180 minutes. 1 + 17 + 180= 198. I got 198 minutes. I divided 198 by 42 and got 4.7. So your average time per km is approximately 5 min/km.
2.I divided 198 by 26.2 and got got 7.5. Your average pace per mile is about 8 min/mile.
3. Since a marathon is 42 kilometers, I divided 42 by 1.2 and got 35. It takes approximately 35 cross country loops to make a marathon.
4.Your time per 1 km is 5, so to make it 1.2 km, I multiplied 5 by 1.2 and got 6. So your average pace for one cross country loop is 6 min/X loop.

Your time in minutes is about 197 minutes and 41 seconds. So it was 197.41, then I did unit rate. It was 4.7km/minute. For miles I did the same thing and got, 7.5m/minute. And to find the answer to how many cross-country loops make a marathon I did, 1.2x___=42. So I did 42 divided by 1.2. Which is 35. So 35 cross-country loops would make a marathon. For the forth question I think the answer is about
6 minutes/km. I think that is the answer because I rounded up.

I converted your time to minutes, and adding on the 41 seconds which were rounded to a minute. It got me 198 minutes.
For kilometers, 198/42 is 4.71, or rounded off to 5 minutes. (5 min/km)
For miles, 198/26.2 is 7.55, or rounded off to 8 minutes. (8 min/km)
Since a X-Country loop is 1.2, I did 42/1.2, which is 35.
Your average time per 1 km is 4.17, so, 4.17 x 1.2 is 5.004. (5.01/loop)

I took the time and I did 60 x 3, because there is 60 minutes in an hour. So I got 180 then i added the 17 minutes and got 197. Then I added the seconds. So it is 197.41. Then i divided 197.41 divided by 42 and I got 4.700. So it is 4.7 minutes a km. Then for miles 197.41 divided by 26.2 equals to 7.534 miles a mile. Then a marathon would make 35 loops because 42 divided by 26.2 is 35.

i took the overall min 197.41divide 42= 4700 4 min per 1km for the next one its in miles so i took 194.4divide 26.2 i got 7.5 min it would take you approximately 35 cross country loops

First I took your time and changed it into minutes. I got 41 seconds but just rounded it up to 1 minute so that I could you easier numbers. So I multiplied 3 by 60 and got 180 minutes. Then I added 1+17+180 and got 198 minutes. Then I divided 198 by 42 and got 4.7 but you can just round it up to 5. So my estimation is that your time is around 5min/km. Next I divided 198 by 26.2 and got around 7.5 but I will round it off to 8. So my estimation is that your pace is around 8min/mile. Next I divided 42 by 1.2 and got 35. So my estimation is that it takes around 35 cross-country laps. So it takes you around 5 minutes to run 1 km, so I multiplied 5 by the 1.2km and got 6. So my estimation is that your pace will take you around 6 minutes to do a cross-country lap.

First, I converted 3 hours 17 minutes and 41 seconds into just minutes and seconds and I got 197 minutes and 41 seconds. I then divided 42 (how long the marathon is) by itself to get 1, and divided 197.41 by 42 which gave me 4.70. Your average pace per mile was 7 minutes and 32 seconds. I divided 26.2 by itself and got 1, and I also divided 197.41 by 26.2 and I got 7.53. I then took 0.53 and multiplied it by 60 (seconds) and I got 32 seconds. 7 minutes+32 seconds= 7 minutes and 32 seconds per mile.

I took the 42 kilometers and divided it by 1.2, and I got 35 cross country loops.

What pace would I hold for each of those x-country loops? You would hold a pace of 5 minutes and 38 seconds for each of those cross country loops. I took my answer from the last question and divided it by itself to get 1. I also used 197.41 and divided it by 35 and I got 5.64. I took 0.64 and multiplied it by 60 seconds and I got 38.4 seconds. 5 minutes+38 seconds= 5 minutes and 38 seconds per x-country loops.

So I added 180 by 17 and 1, and I got 198 mins. So I took my 198 mins and I divided it by 42 and I got 4.7 or should we say 5 mins/km. Then I divided 198 mins by 26.2, and got 7.5/8, so it is 8 minutes/mile. For the next question, I took the 42 km, and divided it by 1.2, and I got 35. So it takes 35 cross country laps to make a marathon. So approximately it takes you 5 minutes to run 1 km. So I had to multiply 5 by 1.2 and got 6. So your average pace was 6 minutes to a cross country lap.

3 hours, 17 minutes and 41 seconds is hard to work with so I converted it to minutes only. Which equalled 197 because 3 hours = 180 minutes + 17 minutes = 197 + 41 seconds but ill round that off so it equalling 198 right now. Then I divided 198 by 42 because you ran 42 kilometers. That equalled 4.7, rounding it off, it would be 5. So your average time was 5 minutes per kilometer, I'm guessing. Using the time that you got I divided that by 26.2. 198 divided by 26.2 = 7.5. Your pace was around 8 minutes per mile. It'll take you around 35 cross country loops because if a marathon is 42 kilometers long and a cross country is 1.2 kilometers long, 1.2 goes into 42 35 times. I'm guessing it would take 7 minutes would be your pace or lap, judging by my experience.

3) A marathon is 42 kilometres. I then, divided that by 1.2 (x-country lap.) and got 35. It takes 35 x-country loops to complete a marathon.

4) Your average time per kilometre is 5. I took that 5mins and multiplied it by 1.2 and I got 6 mins. So the pace you keep for the loops is about 6 mins/loop.

To get the answer, use a preportion. 42 on top and 197.41 on bottom. I got 197.41 by making 3 hours into minutes. 42/42=1. 197.42/42=4.7 4.7 minutes per km.

to get this answer use a unit rate also. 26.2/26.2=1 197.41/26.2=7.5. 7.5 minutes per mile.

to get the answer, you need to divide 42 by 1.2 to see how many 1.2 fit inside 42. there are 35 cross country loops in a marathon.

to get mr harbecs pace for 1.2 km, you need to find 1 km and .2 km. 1 km= 4.7 minutes. .2 km=.94 km. 4.7 +.94=5.67.

Oh, and the reason these are so short is because when I had first typed this, it was so long and so late, that when i pressed publish, the internet just had to shut off and make all my info go away. boo hoo for me.

Since there is 60 minutes in an hour I thought it would be too complicated if I made a decimal. So I just rounded your minutes up to 198 minutes. I divided 198 by 42 and got 4.7 minutes (rounded up), so your pace per kilometre is 4.7 minutes. Which made in to minutes and seconds is 4 minutes and 42 seconds. To get your pace for miles I divided 198 by 26.2 and got 7.6 minutes (rounded again). So your pace per mile is 7.6 minutes which made into minutes and seconds is 7 minutes and 36 seconds. I used how much kilometres in a marathon is because it would be less complicated. I divided 42 by 1.2 and got 35. So it takes 35 cross country loops to make a marathon. I know your pace per 1 kilometre which is 4.7 and since 1 kilomtre times 1.2 equals 1.2 kilomtres (the cross country loop) I multiplied 4.7 by 1.2 and got your pace for each cross country loop, which is 5.6 (rounded). In minutes and seconds it is 5 minutes and 36 seconds. So your pace for each cross country loop is 5 minutes and 36 seconds (rounded).

So there is 60 minutes in an hour. Since you ran 3 hours, i did 60x3=180. So you ran 180 min. And you then add 17 to 180. (180+17=197) but theres 41 sec. left. So i just rounded it to make 198/km. So you said you also ran 26.2 miles. I then did 198 divided by 26.2= 7.55/m. The loops would be 35, because 42 divided by 1.2 equals to 35.

i added all of your time in minutes and i got 198 minutes. then i divided 198 and 42 and i got 4.17 minutes. the i divided 198 and 26.2 and i got 7.55. It would take about 24 cross country loops to do a marathon

I used a ratio table to figure out most of the questions. First I found out that your overall minutes was 197.41. Then I divided 197.41 by 42 and got 4.7, so it's 4.7mins per km.

To get your pace for the mile, I divided 197.41 by 26.2 and got 7.5. So then it's 7.5 mins/mile.

For the cross country lap, I took the km from the marathon and the km from the xcountry lap. So then I divided 42 by 1.2 and got 35. It takes 35 xcountry laps to make a whole marathon.

Your pace for the xcountry lap would then be 5.6 because I multiplied 4.7 (mins per km marathon) and 1.2 (mins per lap xcountry) and got around 5.6.

The first thing I did was convert the time into minutes. 3 hours = 180 minutes 180+17= 197+ 1 min because i rounded the 41 seconds to 1. So the total is 198 minutes. 198 mins divide by 42 = 4.7 so your average pace was 4.7/per km.
The next thing I did was 198 divide by 26.2= 75. so 75m/perkm. It would take 35 loops to make a marathon because 1.2x35=42, Your pace would be around 6m for a cross country lap.

So your time 3 hours 17 minutes and 41 sec. I thought it would be easier if I converted into minutes. But first rounded 3 hours and 18 minutes. 3 hours and 18 minutes = 198. (60x3 +18=198) I then used proportion. And found the unit rate.
Time 198 4.7
---- = ---- = ---- 4.7min/km
km 42 1


I divided 42 by 42 to get one.
So i also divided 198 by 42 to get 4.7.


Pace for mile.


time 198min 7.5
---- = ------ = ---- 7.5min/mile
miles 26.2 1



1.2km per loop. I divided 42 by 1.2=35 35 loops to make up marathon. I rounded 1.2km to 1km
so your pace would be 4.7 min per loop

Solutions:
First, I simplified your time from hours to minutes to seconds:

3.17.41 hr. = 197.41 min.= 11 861
sec.

Then, I divided your time in seconds by 42, then by 26.2 then by 1.2. Finally, I converted them to minutes. And that's how I got the average pace/kilometer or mile or lap answers.
To get the 3rd question, all I had to do was to divide 42 km by 1.2 km.

For question 1 my answer was 4.7 because I simplified you time and got 198 mins and I divided that by 42.
For question 2 I divided 198 by 26.2 and got 7.5
For question 3 35 cross country laps make up a marathon because 42 divided by 1.2 is 35.
For question 4 the answer is 5.6 because 4.7 x 1.2 = 5.6

I got the time and I multiplied 60x3, because 60 minutes equals 1 hour. 60x3=180. Then I added the 17 minutes to 180 and I got 197. 180+17=197. After that I add the seconds. So it is 197.41. Then I divided that by 42 and I got 4.700. 197.41/42=4.700. So the answer is 4.7 minutes a kilometer. For miles, I divided 197.41 by 26.2 and got 7.534. 197.41/26.2=7.534. A marathon would make 35 loops because 42 divided by 26.2 is 35.
