What is your running stride length?

Syncro Stride

Last class we calculated our walking stride length.  Today we need to calculate our running or jogging stride length.  Here is your assignment.

  1. What is your walking stride length?(size of one walking step)
  2. What is your jogging stride length? (size of one jogging step)
  3. How many strides does it take to walk 100 m?
  4. How many strides does it take to jog 100 m?
  5. How many strides does it take to run 100m?
How many strides does Usain Bolt take to run this race? What was his average stride length?

All questions need to be answered using a proportional statement.  Please include a word ratio and the appropriate math work.

Good luck.

1.)My walking stride length is approximately 68cm. I know this because 11 600cm (the length of the sidewalk) divided by 170 (the number of steps that I took to walk from the x to the other) equals 68.235. Then, I rounded up to the nearest centimeter.
2.) My jogging stride length is 126cm. I got this by doing the same thing I did with my walking stride length. So, 11 600cm divided by 92 equals to 126cm. It's actually 126.086, but then again I rounded up to the nearest centimeter.
3.) It takes about 147 steps to walk 100m. I got this answer because 116m divided by 170 equals 0.682. So, 100m divided by 0.682 equals to 146.62. Then you round up to the nearest whole and you get 147 strides.
4.) It takes about 79 strides to jog 100m. I got this answer because 116m divided by 92 equals 1.260. So, 100m divided by 1.260 equals to 79.365 strides. Then you round off to the nearest whole which is 79 strides.
5.)n/a
Usain Bolt took 34 strides to run the race. His average stride length was about 3m. I got this answer because 100m divided by 34 equals 2.941m. Then you round off again which is 3m.

1) My walking stride length is 68cm. I know this because if you divide 11 600cm(sidewalk length) by 170(steps I took) it equals 68cm.
÷170
170 1
------ = ----
11 600 68
÷170

2) My jogging stride length is 1.2 m. I know this because 116m(sidewalk length in m) divided by 90 (steps I took) and it equals 1.2m.
÷90
90 1
---- = ----
116 1.2
÷90

3) I took 147 walking strides. I know this because 116 divided by 170 equals 0.68. Then you divide 100m by 0.68 and it equals 147 steps.

4) I took 83 jogging strides. I know this because 116m divided by 90 equals 1.2. Then you divide 100m by 1.2 and it equals 83 steps.

5) I took 50 running strides. I know this because 116m divided by 58 equals 2m. Then 100m divided by 2 equals 50 steps.

Usain Bolt took 32 strides. His stride length is 3m. I know this because 100m divided by 34 equals 3m.

1.) My walking stride lenght is 67. Because I divided 11600 by 172 and then it equals 67.441 and I rounded it by the nearest number.
2.) My jogging stride length is 133cm. Because I divided 11600 to 87 then I got 133.333 then yet again I rounded it by the nearest centemetre.e
3.)It takes 147 steps to walk 100m.

116÷170= 0.68
then 100÷0.68=147.058
round by the nearest whole number 147.

4.) It takes about 76 strides when joging 100m. I know because 116÷87= 1.333 then 100m divided by 1.333 equals to 76.923 again round by nearest whole.

5.)No answer because I didn't run and counted my strides yet.

Usain Bolt took 34 strides because his average lenght was 3m because 100÷34=2.9 then round by the nearest number it equals 3m.

1. My walking stride length is approximately 57 cm. I know this because I divided 11 600 cm (the length of the sidewalk) divided by 203 (the number of steps that I
took) equals 57.14.

2. My jogging stride length is approximately 113.73 cm. I know this because I divided 11 600 cm (the length of the sidewalk) by 102 (the number of steps that I took) equals 113.73.

3. It would would take me 307 steps to walk 100m. I got this because 116m (the length of the sidewalk)divided by 203 (the number of steps that I took) equals to 0.57 m. Then, I took 100m and divided by 0.57m equals to 307. So therefore it would take me 307 steps to walk 100m.

4. It would would take me *** steps to jog 100m. I got this because 116m (the length of the sidewalk)divided by 102 (the number of steps that I took) equals to 1.14 m. Then, I took 100m and divided by 1.14m equals about 82 steps.

5. Usian bolt took 34 strides to run the race. His average stride length was about 3m. I got this because 100m divided by 34 steps equals to about 3m.

1.) I took 167 walking strides to get from one x to another. 1 walking stride length is equal to 84.3cm.

How I got that was by dividing the total sidewalk length (14,080) by the number of walking strides it took me to get from one x to another (167).

14,080 divided by 167 = 84.3 cm.

2.) It took me 97 jogging stride steps to get from one x to another. 1 jogging stride step is equal to 145.1cm.

How I got it was from doing the same thing.

14,080 divided 97 = 145.1cm

3.) It takes me 119 walking strides to walk 100m.

I use 14,000cm and turned it into 140m.
14,000 divided by 100 = 140

140m divided by 167 walking stride steps = 0.838m

100m divided by 0.838m = 119.

4.) It takes me 71 jogging strides to jog 100m.
I use the same method as # 3.

5.) It takes me 53 running stride steps to run 100m.

I counted 35 strides for Usain Bolt to run the 100m

100m divided by 35 = 2.8m rounded off, 3m.

1) My walking stride length is approximately 66cm. To get this answer I divided 11600 (distance between the 2 x's) by 175 (number of steps I took) which equals 66.28cm. I rounded it off to the nearest cm to get 66cm.

2) My jogging stride length is approximately 193cm. I used the same method for my walking stride length. 11600 divided by 60 equals 193.33cm. I rounded it to the nearest cm to get 193cm.

3)It takes approximately 151 strides to walk 100m. What i did to answer this is I divided 116 by 175 which equals 0.662. I then divided 100 by 0.662 which equals 151.057. I rounded it to the nearest whole to get 151 strides.

4) It takes approximately 52 strides to jog 100m. To get this answer I divided 116 by 60 which equals 1.93. Then I divided 100 by 1.93 which equals 51.813. I rounded it to the nearest whole to get 52 strides.

5)I didnt get to run 100m and count my strides. N/A

Usain Bolt took 34 strides to run the race. His average stride length is approximately 3m. To get this answer I divided 100 by 34 which equals 2.941m. I rounded it to the nearest whole to get 3m.

1) My walking stride length is 58cm. I got this answer by dividing the distance between the two x's by my strides which is 200, so i got an answer on 58 cm.

2)My jogging stride length is 116cm. I got this answer by dividing the distance between the two x's by my strides for jogging which was 100, so i got an answer of 116cm.

3) It takes me about 172 strides to walk 100m. I got this answer because first i converted 11 600 cm into meters, then divided it by 200, which was the number of strides I took, and i got .58m. Then I just divided 100m ( the distance) By .58 and got an answer of 172.41 then I rounded it off.

4) It takes me about 86 strides to jog 100 meters. I got this answer because first of all I did the same thing by converting 11 600 into meters, then dividing it by the # of strides I took between the 2 x's, then i received an answer of 1.16 m. Next I just divided 100 by 1.16 and got 86.20 then I rounded it off.

Usain Bolt takes 35 strides in his race. His average stride length is approximately 3 meters. I got this because I divided 100m by the # of strides he took in the race which was 35 and got an answer of 2.85 and I just rounded it off.

1) My walking stride length is about 76 cm. I got this by dividing the distance of the two x's (ours was 13, 760) to the steps I took (179) to get my answer of 76. 87 cm. I then rounded my answer to get 76!

2) My jogging stride length is approximately 110cm. Like the last method, I divided the distance from the two x's, to my jogging steps I took. 13,760 divided by 125 = 110.08cm. I rounded it so it's 110.

3) It takes approximately 181m. I got this by converting 13, 760 cm into meters, so thats 137. After that, I divided 137 and 179 (strides) and got an answer of 181. 81 and rounded it off to make 181m.

4) The jogging stride is about 91m strides to jog 100m. I got this by dividing 137 and 125 to get an answer of 1.09. Then I just divided 100 divided by 1.09 and I got a calculated answer of 91.74. I rounded it off to get 91m.

1. My walking stride is about 74.7cm I took 184 strides, my 1 stride is unknown. 13 760cm is the length of the sidewalk. To figure out my 1 stride, I have to divide 13 760 cm by 184. Which I end up with close to 75 cm.

2. My jogging stride is close to 78.6 cm. I took 175 strides, my jogging stride is unknown. To find out my jogging stride we must divide 13 760 cm by 175 which equals to 78.6 cm.

3.To walk 100m, it takes me about 135 strides. Take the number of centimeters of the sidewalk and turn it to a number in meters. (divide by 100.) Take that number,137.6m and divide it by 184 (my number of strides on the sidewalk) Which is 0.74, then take that number and divide 100 with it. Then you get your answer, 135 strides when walking 100m.

4.When jogging 100m, my jogging stride is 57 strides. You take 137.6 and divide by 78.6cm and get 1.75. Divide 100 by 1.75 and you get your answer. 57 strides when jogging 100m.

1) My walking stride length is (≈) 80cm. I got this answer by dividing 13,760 (the sidewalk we used *in cm*) with how many steps I needed to take (172). (13,760 ÷ 172 = 80)

2) My jogging stride length is (≈) 102cm. I also got this answer by dividing 13,760 with how many *jogging* steps I needed to take (134). (13,760 ÷ 134 = 102)

3) It takes about 125 strides to walk 100m. I got this answer by converting the sidewalk *cm* into another number *in meters* (1m = 100cm). So the relationship of m and cm are 100, if we were starting at cm we would multiply but if we were on meters we would divide, in our case we would divide (13,760 ÷ 100 = 137.6). Then take 137.6 and divide it with the number of strides you took on the sidewalk *walking mode* (137.6 ÷ 172 = 0.8). Lastly, if you take the answer (in this case 0.8) and divide it with 100 you'll get your answer (100 ÷ 0.8 = 125).

4) It takes about 98 strides to jog 100m. (convert your cm into m again) We take 137.6 and you also divide it with the number of the strides you took on the sidewalk *jogging mode* (137.6 ÷ 134 = 1.02). Lastly, we take the answer and divide it with 100 (100 ÷ 1.02 = 98).

5) *Did not run****

Usian bolt took 34 strides to run the race. His average stride length was about 3m. I got this because 100m ÷ 34 steps = 3m.

1. My walking stride is approximately 87cm.

14 080 cm.= length of the sidewalk
161 stride= 14 080 cm.
1 stride

stride 1 161
------ ---- = -----
cm. x 14 080 cm

161 divided by 161 = 1
14080 divided by 161 = 87.43cm.

2. My jogging stride is approximately 110 cm.

14080 cm.= length of sidewalk
1 stride
127 stride

s 1 127
---- ------ = ------
cm x 14080cm

127/127 = 1
14080/127=110.86cm

3. My walking stride in 100m is approximately 114 strides. I got this answer by dividing 140.8m by 161 that equals to 0.87. Then I divided 100m. by 0.87 that equals to 114.94 strides.

4. My jogging stride in 100m is approximately 90 strides. I got this answer by dividing 140.8 by 127 that equals to 1.10. Then I divided 100 by 1.10 that equals to 90 strides.

1.) My walking stride lenght is (approximately) 80cm. I got this by counting how much steps i took from one "X" to the other. The lenght from one "X" to the other is 13 760cm, I divided that to 172 (how much steps I approximately took) and that equals to 80cm.

2.) My jogging stride lenght is 133cm (approximately). I did the same thing like my walking stride. I took the lenght of the full sidewalk (from one "x" to the other) and divided it by how much steps I took (I took 103 steps).

3.) It takes about 145 steps (approximately) to walk 100m. I got this by dividing the lenght of one side of the X to the other TO how mch my walking stride is.

4.)It takes about 77 strides for me to jog 100m. I got this the same way how I did my walking stride except i used my jogging stride instead of my walking stride.

5.)N/A we didn't have time to count our strides or run outside.

-Usain Bolt took about 34 strides to run 100m. His average stride length was (approximately) 3m.I got this by: taking 100m dividing it by 34 which gives me the answer of 2.941m, and then you round the number to 3m.

1. my walking stride length is 88cm because I naturally took 160 steps while walking down the sidewalk. The lenght of the side walk is 14 080cm, divide that by 160 you get exactly 88cm.

2. my jogging stride length is 108.3cm because I took 130 steps whiled jogging the sidewalk. the sidewalk is 14 080, divide that by 130 you get 108.3cm.

3. While walking 100m. It takes me 160 strides. Thats's 0.62m a stride.

4. While jogging 100m. It takes me 130 strides. That's 0.76m a stride.

5. It takes Bolt 34 strides to run a 100m race. That's 2.94m a stride.

2.My jogging stride length is 108 from the x to the other x.My average stride length is 130.4 cm
(14080÷108=130.4)
3.It takes me 113 strides to walk the 100m.(14080÷159=140.8,140.8÷159=0.88,100×0.88=113)
4.It takes me 77 strides to jog the 100 m.I did the same thing as number 3
5.I didn't run.
Usain bolt took 41 steps for the 100m,his average stride is 2.5 m,(100÷41=2.49)

1) My walking stride length was about 69cm, because the length of a side walk is 11600cm and I divided 168 steps (from the number of steps for the the two x's) which equaled to 69cm.

2)My jogging stride length was about 112cm, I got this by doing the same thing I did to my walking stride length. So what I did was I divided 13760cm to 123cm and it equaled to 111.89. So I rounded is to the nearest tenth and got the answer of 112cm.

3)It takes me approx. of 122 walking strides to walk a 100m. I used 13760cm and converted it into 137m. Then divided
137m by 168 and got the answer of 0.815m. So after that I divided 100 by 0.815 and it equaled to 122m.

4) It took me approx. 89 jogging strides to complete 100m. And I used the same method as I did in number 3.
5)N/A

Usain Bolt took 34 strides to run his race. When you divide 100m by 33 it equals to approx of 3 meters.

1. My walking stride length is approximately 64 cm.
It's because 11600cm(length of the sidewalk) by 181 strides(the steps I took from the two x's)would equal to 64cm.

2. My jogging stride length is approximately 122cm. I got this by dividing 11600cm(length of the sidewalk) by 95 strides(the steps I took by jogging) and it equaled to approximately 122 cm.

3. It took me approximately 159 strides to walk 100m. I solved this by first converting 11600cm into meters which is 116m. Next I divided 116m by 185(number of strides for 11600cm) and it equaled to 0.627. Then I divided 100 by 0.627 then the answer equaled to 159.48. So I rounded it to the nearest whole which is was 159.

4. I had 82 strides for jogging 100m. I used the same method in #3.

5. N/A (I wasn't able to calculate my running strides for 116m.)

Usain Bolt took 34 strides to run the 100m race. And his stride length is approximately 3m. I calculated this by dividing 100m by 35 and got the answer of 2.85, so i rounded it off to 3m.

1. My walking stride length was 57.33cm, because 13760 (length of the sidewalk) divided by 240 (steps I took from one X to the other) equal to 57.33cm.

2. My jogging stride length was 86cm, because 13760 (length of the sidewalk) divided by 160 (steps I took from one X to the other) equal to 86cm.

3. It took me 175 strides to walk 100m. This is how I got the answer, first I made the centimeters of the sidewalk into meters, which is now 137.6m. Then I divided 137.6 by 240 (my number of strides on the sidewalk) and it equaled to 0.57, next you divide 0.57 by 100 which equals to 175 strides.

4. It took me 116 strides to jog 100m. This is how I got the answer, first I divided 137.6 by 160 which equals to 0.86 then I divided 0.86 by 100 and it equals to 116 strides.

5. N/A

Usian Bolt took 34 strides because 100m divided by 34 equals 2.9 and you round it off to 3m.

1) My walking stride length is 69 cm. I know this because 11600 cm. (the length of the sidewalk) divided by 168(the number of steps I took) equals approximately 69 cm. I just rounded it up to the nearest cm.
2) My running stride length is 232 cm. I got this by doing the same thing as I did with my walking stride length. So 11600 cm. divided by 50 equals to 232 cm.
3) It takes about 150 steps to walk 100 m. I got this answer because 116 divided by 100 is 1.16.
So, I inverted the bottom part too.
168 divided by 1.16 equals 144.8. I rounded it up to the nearest whole which is 150.
4) N/A
5) It takes about 43 strides to run 100 m. I did the same thing as #3. 116 divided by 100 is 1.16. I inverted the bottom part too. 50 divided by 1.16 equals to 43.1, I rounded it up to the nearest whole which is 43.
Usain Bolt took 34 strides to run the 100 m race. His average stride length was 2.94 m. I got the stride answer from watching the video. I got the average stride length by dividing the strides he took which is 34 by 34 which is 1. I inverted the top part too. So, 100 m. divided by 34 equals to 2.94.

My walking stride length is approximately 76cm. How I got this, I divided 13 760cm, length of the sidewalk to how many steps I took. And it equals to 76.4 repeating. Then I rounded it to the nearest centimeter.

My jogging stide length is approximately 105cm. How I got this, I divided 13 760cm to how many steps I took to 2 Xs. And it equal to approximately 105cm

If I walk 100m long, it would take me 108 strides. I know this because I took the number of length of the sidewalk wich is 13 760 then divide it to 100 to make it meter. The answer will be 137.6m. Then I divided 137.6 to 149 , strides i took to the sidewalk and it equals to 0.92. Then i took that number and divided it by 100, the answer will be 108, approximately.

If i jog 100m, My jogging strides will be 95 and my jogging strides on the sidewalk is 130.

1) My walking stride length is approximately 87 cm. I got this answer by dividing 161 strides into 14,080 cm.

2) My jogging stride length is around 122 cm. What I did to get this answer is I did the same strategy on number one. Divide 115 to 14080 and get an answer around 122 cm.

3) It takes approximately 114 strides to walk 100m. First I divided 140.8m by 161 and I got 0.874. Then I divided 100 by 0.874 and I got the answer of 114.41. So I rounded the number to 114.

4) It takes approximately 82 strides to jog 100m. First I divided 140.8m by 115 and I got the answer of 1.22. Then I divided 100 by 1.22 and I got the answer of 81.96 and then round it to 82.

1)My walking stride length is 61cm. This is my stride length because the length of the side walk was 14080 and divided by 163( the number of steps i took from x to x) equaled to 61cm.

14080÷163= 61

2) It took me 97 jogging stride steps to get from one x to x. 1 jogging stride step is equal to 145.1cm.

I got this by using the same strategy

3)It took me 119 strides to walk 100m
I use 14,000cm and turned it into 140m.
14,000 divided by 100 = 140

140m divided by 167 walking stride steps = 0.838m

100m divided by 0.838m = 119.

4) it takes me 71 jogging strides in 100m

5)it takes me 53 running steps in 100m

I counted 35 running strides for usain bold in his 100m race
100m÷35= 2.8m rounded off, 3m.
