Are you missing work?

Many of you have not completed previous posts.  My grace period is about to come to an end.  Here is what is owed up to now...

Reflection and Audioboo
Great Big Book of Integers Chapter 1

Great Big Book of Integers Chapter 2
Great Big Book of Integers Chapter 3
Great Big Book of Algebra Chapter 4

Also you have your E-Portfolio Due and 2 Minutes .

If you missed the class for your Term 2 Reflection here is what you need to do
Title Term 2 Reflection
Labels "Term 2 Reflection" Audioboo, display name
In the body of the post embed your audio boo and you can also cut and paste your reflection from your Google Document.

For your E-Portfolio you need to have the following
  • Audioboo of the Term 2 Reflection and the text from the Term 2 Reflection
  • Your final Percent Video and Links to your Percent Post
  • Surface Area and Volume.  You need a link to your blog work showing your understanding of Surface Area and Volume.  Also you should embed your movie if you made one.

Make sure these are done by Friday.  If they are not they will only receive 50% max.  You also will be held back from the movie on the last day before the break.

Work for October 29

Hi Everyone.  I am sick today.  I have no voice and find it depressing when I try to talk and sound like a snapping turtle.  Hrumph.  Here is the work you need to accomplish today.

Homework Book 20, 21

Show you Know on Page 82
Show you Know on Page 83
Show you Know on Page 84

Copy down any Key Ideas you do not have onto your Foldable from Page 84
Page 85 Do questions 1-13
Page 86 Do Questions 14-18

DO NOT DO THE QUESTION PAST QUESTION 18. THESE ARE FOR TOMORROW.

For all questions SHOW ALL YOUR WORK. It is not good enough to just put 3 as the answer to, What is the Square Root of 9? You have to prove your understanding.

If you get stuck use the back of the book for the answer, copy out the question and fill in the middle or the WORK.

DO NOT GET STUCK ON ONE QUESTION.  DO ALL THE ONES YOU KNOW THEN GO BACK TO THE ONES YOU STRUGGLED ON.

Each room needs three scribes today.

  • Scribe 1 Show You Know Page 82, Page 85 Questions 1,5,10,16
  • Scribe 2 Show You Know Page 83  Page 85 Questions 2,6,11,15
  • Scribe 3 Show You Know Page 84  Page 85 Questions 3,7,12,14
Each scribe must explain how to solve the questions mentioned. These are very important scribes. (New kids only.  no repeat scribes.) Labels are scribepost, Name, squareroots. Remember these scribes are important.

I will be in the Math Help Chat Box periodically during the day.  Leave a message if you need help.

Getting ready for the test of Thursday. You need to created a 4 x 4 magic square. Please use the integers 1-16 to make all the rows and columns vertically, horizontally and diagonally add up to the same sum.

What patterns do you notice in the square? Are yours the same as other peoples patterns? Can't answer this question go to the chat box and put in your pattern and see if anyone else has something different.

Mean Median and Mode

Monday September 15

Hi everyone. I am not here for the morning but I am here on the blog. Mr. Angeles will get you through the morning. All work is to be completed for tomorrow. Please work hard to get it done on time.

1. Krypto. Todays numbers are 1, 12, 6, 11, 8, 4 = 9 For those of you who do not remember the rules you need to use the red numbers to create the number 9. Remember the order of operations and remember to write out your equations horizontally if possible.

2. Similar to the triangle questions we have been doing in class you are now going to make a Magic square. You may only use the integers 1-9 and all rows horizontally, vertically and diagonally need to have the same sum. If you think you have a correct answer you can ,at home, with the following link.

3. Please find the Mean Median Mode and Range for the following sets of data:

The image is a link that will allow you to check your answers.

Two more problems for today...
4. The number of minutes that trains were late to arrive at a station was recorded.
  • Find the Mean Median and Mode
  • Which measure would you use to argue that too many trains are late each day?

5.The table below gives the number of accidents each year at a road intersection.
  • Work out the Mean Median and Mode
  • A road safety group want to get the council to make this junction safer.
Which measure will they use to argue for this?
  • The council don't want to spend money on the road junction.
Which measure will they use to argue that safety work is not necessary?

All images have links for you to go to the webpage and check if you are correct. Do not forget to use the chatroom tonight if there are any difficulties and work hard.

More Problems

Using the integers from 1 to 9. Place one integer in each of the circles, so that the sum along each side of the triangle is 20. Use each number only once.

Use the same numbers to obtain a sum of 17 along each side.
What other sums are possible along each side?

Some Fosnot Homework

Today in class we had an excellent Math Congress. All of you agreed that 10/12 was larger than 7/10. How can you prove this to me using words, numbers and pictures?

We also discussed fractions as division.

In this number string what patterns do you see happening?

How can we use the patterns you recognize in this picture to help us determine whether 10/12 is larger than 5/6?

Welcome to your 3 questions that need to be answered. Once again they are...
