Your Graphing Post

Graphing Post

1. Use your notes to list the different types of graphs. Please list the advantages and disadvantages of each graph.

2. How can graphs be misleading. Show 3 ways.

2a) The following chart shows Pizza Sub Sales over a month. What 2 graphs would show the information accurately?
2b) If you were selling Pizza Subs would you continue? How does your graph explain your answer.

4. Below you see 2 different examples of graphs showing healthy choices sold at the canteen. If you had to convince Mrs Mota that we should continue selling healthy choices which graph would you choose?

4a) Change each graph so that your information looks even MORE impressive. You may not change the data just the graphs.

Your homework is to calculate you caloric intake for today or yesterday. You also need to recreate the two graphs in your handout on the grid paper provided. Please make sure you follow the graphing conventions. Use all of the paper and see you tomorrow.

Graphing AlgebraIntroduction

Hey all you fantastic Math Students. Sorry I am unable to help you out today. Here are a few videos to help explain the work today.

Get a Textbook and turn to Chapter 9. This is what we are learning today. You will also need some Graph Paper and your Notebook.

Here is the first video that will explain the first part of todays lesson. It is 8 minutes long. Please follow along in the textbook and take the notes that are necessary. Stop the video at any time so that you can get all the information. The videos can be played from home if you still are experiencing difficulty.

Graphing Assessment

Today in class you are going to play a game, create some graphs and then..... hand in an assessment.

Spot the Dice

Find a partner.
Roll the dice 15 times and your partner rolls the dice 15 times.
Record the sum of the dice each time (2 to 12)
Organize your data.
Place your data on a graph. Be sure to title it, label it and follow all the conventions of graphing.
What conclusion can you draw from your experiment.
Use the same data and find a way to Misrepresent the information that you have gathered.
Remake the graph showing the same data in different ways (draw our attention to a different piece of information)
Write a few sentences explaining what you did to the graph and WHY you did what you did.So here is what needs to be handed in on one piece of graph paper,

Organized Data
Graph 1 showing the data and 2 to 3 sentences explaining conclusions that can be made.
Graph 2 Misrepresent the data and redraw the graph. 2 to 3 sentences explaining what you have done.
Bonus Make a Circle Graph for the same information.

Everything is on One piece of paper or......... You can post it online for bonus marks. It is due on Monday no ifs ands or ...buts :)

Misrepresenting Data OR Graphing 9

Here is a stream of the lesson. To finish your lesson use mytextbook.ca and work on question 1 and 2. Please fill out the foldable section 2 (see the slides). Also your homework book page 6 has been assigned.
