Victoria has four shirts -- 1 yellow, 1 red, 1 with purple stripes and 1 plaid. She also has three pairs of shorts -- 1 blue, 1 black and 1 white. Victoria thinks that with these she can make 7 different short and shirt outfits.

She is very, very wrong, because I figured out that there is actually 12 combanations, because for each shirt, there are 3 combonations, so by doing 4x3 you get 12.
Victoria is wrong.
She has three shorts and four shirts. You can easily create twelve different combinations by doing the following:
Multiply four (number of shirts) by three (number of possible combinations per shirt) to get the number of possible combinations.

Victoria has 3 shorts and 4 shirts. She can wear 3 different shorts for every shirt she has. So it's 4x3 which equals 12 different clothing combinations. Her thinking was wrong.
