  4. Slide 1:
    1/2 + 3/5
i used a numberline for this, so i put 10 because 2 and 5 both go into 10, and looking at 10 is more friendly compared to 60, and 100.
well half of ten would be 5. so for 1/2 we would draw half of the numberline. For 3/5, we could multiply 3 and 5 by 2 to make it 10 and so the top and bottom stay equivalent (numerator and denominator). so we get 6/10 and draw that on the numberline. Now that we know what 1/2 and 3/5's is we can add them together easisly on the numberline. 5+6=11/10 since its improper we look at it and see that 10 goes into 11 once, so we take 11 and subtract a 10 to get 1 and 1/10. You could also use the clock strategy but that would have to use more thinking finding 5th's on a clock. It is possible though because half of a clock is 30 minutes or the 6 on the clock. a fith would be 60 divided by 5 which is 12, (we make sure by 5x12) Now that we found the unit fraction ( 1/5 = 12 minutes ) we can multiply that by 3 to get 3/5's or 36 minutes. So then we jsut add them together and we get 66 minutes or 1hour and 6 minutes.
We could ALSO use money for this because half of 100(a dollar) is 50 cents, and 100 divided by 5 = 20, so 20 cents = 1/5 <--- the unit price again! Now that we know what one fifth is we can multiply that to get 3/5's which would be 60 cents. Now if we add them together ( 50 cents and 60 cents ) we get 110/100cents or $1.10 OR also know as 1 10/100 which all can be simplified to 1 1/10 like i did with the numberline earlier.

    2/3+1/9
You could also use a numberline for this, 3 goes into 9 3 times, so on the numberline outta 9, 1 third would be 3. 9 goes into 9 once, so it would be going up by one. we have 2/3 so that would be 6 and 1/9 so a 1. 6+1 =7/9

    5/7 + 1/2
For this one 7 didnt really fit in with 100 or 60 verywell so again a numberline, but this time its out of 14! 7 x 2 = 14 so do the same to the 5 and we get 10 out of 14, and half is jsut always half or 7 out of 14 in this case. Now we can take 10 and 7 and add them (10 + 7) to make 17/14. 14 goes into 17 once so we take 14 out of 17 and get 3 left over. THUS the answer is 1 3/14

    7/15 + 2/15
you could use a clock for this because 15 x 2 is 30 which is half of 60 so 15 goes into 60 4 times making 15 marks on a clock 4 minutes per mark O_o". Well if thats true, then 7x4 = 28 minutes and 2/15 = 8 minutes. 28+8=36minutes out of 60. so 36/60 or 6/10
We could use a numberline for this also and make it out of 15 because 15 goes into 15 once. So it would be 7 fifteenths PLUS two fifteenths. Which equal nine fifteenths (9/15) which can be simplified to a simple 3/5 (same for the clock strategy)

Romluo i only did one slide for this so i wonder if you beat me O_O same as nathaniel if you guys dont then HAH xD

  5. 1.) 1/2 + 3/5
I used a double numberline out
of 10. I got an answer of 11/10 which simplified as 1 1/10.

    2.)
    2/3 + 1/3
For this question I used a double numberline. My numberline was out of 3. That = 3/3 which is simplified as a one whole.

    3.)
    5/7 + 1/2
    For this question I used a double numberline. The numberline was out 14. 14 divided by 7 = 2. Then I multiplied 5 = 10 and 14 divided by 2 = 7. 17/14 = 1 3/14/

    4.)
    7/15 + 2/15
I used a double numberline out of 15. 7+2=9 = 9/15. Only the numerators will change. The denominators will stay the same.

  6. NUMBER 1:
    1/2 + 3/5
Well I Used a Clock YAY
    Half=30
    and 3/5 = 36
    soo 30+36=66
Then I simplified it to 11/10

    NUMBER 2:
    2/3+1/9=
I Used A Double Number Line
The number line was out of 27
    2/3= 18
    1/9= 3
    Therefore I got 21/27

    NUMBER 3:
    5/7+1/2=
    I Used A Number Line
The Numner Line Was Out Of 14
    5/7= 10
    1/2=7
    So I Got 17/14

    NUMBER 4:
    7/15+2/15
    i Used A Number Line
    7/15=7
    2/15=2
    ThereFore i Got 9/15

  7. Slide 2:
    a)7/8 - 1/2 b)2/3 - 3/5
    c)3/4 - 1/6 d)9/10 - 2/5

    for equation a), i would do something simple. dividing 8 ( 7 / ->8<- ) by 2 to get half, and just subtracting it from 7/8 :
    8 ÷ 2 = 4

    7 - 4 = 3 / 8
3/8 is the answer. If you wanted something in decimals and such, I would divide 0.25 by 2 because 0.25 is the decimal form of 1/4, and 1/4 is double of 1/8 (2/8 = 1/4).
    25 ÷ 2 = 12 remainder 1 (12 1/8)
    1 ÷ 2 = 0.5
    12
    +0.5
    -----
12.5. Now divide this by 100 because up there, we simplified 0.25 to 25 (multiply 100) now do the opposite (divide 100).

    12.5 ÷ 100 = (move the decimal 2 points left)
    =0.125 x 3 (3/8) = (12 x 3 = 36 + (3 x 0.5 = 1.5) = 37.5 = 0.375 (divide by 100)

    B) 2/3 - 3/5
I would use clocks for this equation.
    60 ( 1 hour )
    ÷3
    ---
    20 minutes
    = 1/3

    20 x 2 (-->2<--/3) = 40 minutes.

    60
    ÷5 ( 1 /->5<- )
    -----
    12
    = 1/5

    12 x 3 (3/5) = 36 minutes

    40+36 = 76/60
    76 ÷ 60 = 1 remainder 16
    --------= 1 16/60
    --------= 1 4/15

    C) 3/4 - 1/6
I would use clocks for this equation, but I'll "take the high road". So I'm going to make it out of 12.

    12 ÷ 4 = 3 x 3 = 9/12
    12 ÷ 6 = 2 x 1 = 2/12

    9 + 2 = 11/12.

    D)9/10 - 2/5

I would first make 2/5 have a equivalent denominator as 9/(10) by multiplying the denominator and numerator of 2/5 by 2. So in other words, im making the total out of 10 to simplify subtracting.
    2 x 2 = 4
    -----------
    5 x 2 = 10

    9 - 4 = 5/10

  8. Not sure what im supposed to do since i missed but, ill try.

    1) 1/2 + 3/5

    I would use money to answer this. 1/2 = 50/100 because 50/100 is half. 3/5 of 100 = 60 cents because 3/5 is equivalent to 60/100. Then i would add them. 50 + 60 = 110/100 so 1 dollar and 10 cents. 1 1/10.

    2) 2/3 + 1/9

    I would use a numberline since 3 can go into 9. 2/3 = 6/9 (multiply numerator and denominator by 3) so just add them. 6/9 + 1/9 = 7/9

    3) 5/7 + 1/2

I would use a numberline again.
    I would make it out of 14 because they both can go into 14. 5/7 = 10/14. 1/2 = 7/14. Add them up = 17/14. Or 1 3/14

    4) 7/15 + 2/15

WOW. Just add the numerators since they have the same denominators. 7 + 2 = 9 = 9/15. But if we had to use a strategy i would use number line out of 15.
